More illegal activity from Andrew K.

Andrew K., the author of the Firefox Myths article, has deliberately misquoted me on that page. He cut pieces of things I said and glued them together with no indication that such modifications were made. His page claims that I said the following:

Mozilla Firefox is a great web browser, but its praise is not without its share of exaggerations. Internet Explorer typically starts up faster than Firefox. Firefox is by no means perfectly safe. Users still have to use reasonable caution when downloading files and plugins from untrusted websites. Firefox does not yet have complete support for the current CSS, DOM, or even HTML standards.

These quotes are based on things I said in my own Firefox Myths article. Here is what I actually said:

Mozilla Firefox is a great web browser, but its praise is not without its share of exaggerations. [...] Internet Explorer typically starts up faster than Firefox the first time you double-click on the program icon. [...] There are some fundamental differences between the architecture of Firefox compared to Internet Explorer with regard to security, and Mozilla has shown a much better record than Microsoft at fixing its browser's vulnerabilities, as shown in this security summary, but Firefox is by no means perfectly safe. Users still have to use reasonable caution when downloading files and plugins from untrusted websites. [...] Firefox (along with Opera, Safari, and Konqueror) is certainly a leader in the field of standards support, and is quickly adopting new emerging technologies, but it, like the others, does not yet have complete support for the current CSS, DOM, or even HTML standards.

I have contacted Andrew K. about this and I will give him 24 hours to correct it before I report this new violation to someone who can address it. Others quoted in that section are also complaining.

I for one am also complaining.

"The sources and data are convincing" - Ryan J.

I cannot even find where he got this from, he should also ask permission to quote as Nanobot did with his E-mails I think.

He resorts to ever dirtier tactics including posting miss-quoted information from the people who are his main opposer's - pethetic.

The only thing bad about FireFox is that it has an extremely bad memory management and sometimes starts eating memory without reason, also I noticed more lockups with FireFox 1.5 than with previous versions. Anyway, apart from these, it's my favorite browser :)

Jared

Actually 1.5's memory management is a massive improvement over 1.0.x. What you're probably speaking of is it's memory usage. I have yet to see Fx eat memory without reason, although I have seen it use a lot of memory, especially when viewing a lot of pictures, but I've also seen it release that memory when needed.

Do you have Google's Safe Browsing extension installed? It is known to start eating memory after Firefox is up.

Heh I knew that if I googled I would find very quickly that this kid was not to be trusted. A quick google search of "Andrew K firefox" took my right to your page. Glad to see I was right, thanks for the correction.
