There are rumors floating around about Google planning some kind of travel site. It would allow you to pull up the cheapest tickets for your trip and purchase them online. It would likely be integrated with Google Maps and Google Earth in some fashion. Of course, it's being hyped up as something that will destroy other travel sites like Expedia and Travelocity, but we'll see.

I'm not sure if there's any actual new information regarding this, but my post was inspired by the recent article, CoolTechZone::Google Enters the Traveling World, Targets Expedia. Speculation has existed since the travel feature was added to the web search, and it's touch on in Inside C - Blog Archive - Searching for Travel, for example.
