AnooX Challenges Google and Yahoo!
Right away I can tell you, AnooX won't win. The search engine acts as if it is unique in offering a feature that optimizes search results based on user behavior. *cough* A9 *cough*. I gave it a test run by searching for web browser standards support
, looking for my document. On Google, it was the first result, as expected. On Yahoo!, it was the third result; with the first being The Mozilla Foundation, which makes Firefox, a browser with good standards support); and the second being the WaSP browser upgrade campaign, which encouraged people to upgrade to browsers with better standards support. When I tried the search on AnooX, it took about ten seconds to perform the search (which is completely unacceptable, no matter how relevant the results are), and the webpage I was looking for wasn't even on the first page of results. I tried some other searches, and consistently got poor result quality.
Throw in the fact that the interface is terrible and it doesn't even show summaries of the webpages in the results (let alone the titles), and all in all, I'd say this is one of the worst search engines out there. Nice try, guys; don't quit your day job.
