Robot Learns How To Walk
Scientists have managed to develop a robot that learns to walk like a human. The robot is named Toddler, because, like a real human toddler, it learns to walk on its own, rather than having every movement hard-coded into the program. Apparently, the movement it eventually acquires is very much like a real full-grown human, even in varying terrain and speeds. It is also much lighter than walking robots in the past.
This is a big step (no pun intended) in the advancement of artificial intelligence. It'll be neat to see what practical uses this kind of technology can have in the short-term. Situational adaptation is one of the most important goals of artificial intelligence, and it is clearly making progress.
