Google Adds Movie Info
Google has added a new movie information feature to their web search, and I'm not talking about Google Video. You can now use the movie:
keyword in regular web searches to bring up movie information. The service seems so feature-packed and comprehensive, I'm not sure where to begin.
For starters, search for something like movie:lord of the rings to get listings of the Lord of the Rings movies, along with links to reviews, summarized ratings out of five stars, links to other related searches, and more. If you don't know the name of the movie, just replace the title with a description or some names that exist in the movie. Google will guess the movie that you're talking about.
If you want to find movie play times in a city near you, add your town or zip code. For example, movie:chico, ca constantine will give me movie times for Constantine in my town. It also remembers your settings for Google Local.
You can also use Google SMS to get movie times via text messages.
Conclusion: Wow! I expected them to add some sort of service like this in the near future, but I didn't expect it to be so well integrated with their other services, so feature packed, so intuitive, and so suddenly. Props to Google once again.
