Ask Jeeves Making a Firefox Browser?
Ask Jeeves and The Mozilla Foundation have been discussing plans to work together on a few projects. Apparent, Ask Jeeves sees Mozilla and Google getting very comfy and wants to take its share of partnership with Mozilla. Ask Jeeves is apparently interested in contributing code to Firefox, which in part means that some of the source code to Ask Jeeve's tools will be made open source. Ask Jeeves is also apparently considering to develop an Ask Jeeves branded version of Firefox, likely with several search features, including desktop search (local file search). It seems just about everyone but Microsoft is developing for or otherwise supporting Firefox these days, and that includes developers of other competing browsers like Opera.
