My High School Graduation

My high school graduation took place yesterday. It was really nice. There were a lot more people there than I had expected, and the football field was completely full of the family and friends of the graduates. My mom, three brothers, dad, and grandpa on my dad's side were all there. My step-dad didn't come because I told him during a fight the previous day that I didn't want him to. It's not like he contributed to my education in any way including support.

Several people, including myself, got to wear a gold sash and gold tassel to recognize CSF gold seal bearers, which means you were in the program for four consecutive semesters, or something to that effect. I've been in CSF or CJSF every semester since seventh grade, so I basically qualified for it a few times over.

A few students came up and delivered speeches before the diplomas — or rather, certificates to trade in for diplomas — were handed out. They were all well-written and most were delivered well. A few people sang, one guy recited some quotes from Dr. Seuss and somehow related them to our situation. We then got our certificates, flipped our tassels, tossed a few hats, and said our final farewell to high school.

Immediately after graduation most graduates went to grad night, but I decided instead to hang out with my dad for the remainder of the night. After searching for a good restaurant that was still open, we finally found Applebee's and I had a nice steak. We then got some junk food, just wandered around town and talked and joked, went to his hotel room and poked fun at the many flaws in the Spawn movie that was playing on TNT, and then I went back home at about 1:30 AM. My dad also gave me $200, which was really nice.

My dad had planned on picking up my grandpa and me today at about 11:30 AM to get some lunch and go for a walk, but for whatever reason he never showed up, and it's now 6:00 PM. I don't have him hotel's phone number, and I tried calling my grandpa but the phone was busy each time.

Well anyway, tomorrow I'm going to go to Outback Steakhouse with my family, and that will pretty much be the end of my graduation celebration. I'm looking forward to some time without any obligations. Of course, such a time never truly comes around.
